Kid-friendly things to do at the beach

With the rainy weather clearing up and the school holidays approaching, if you’ve decided to hit up East Coast Park to spend the day with the kids, here’re some ideas:

Cycling
You can’t go wrong with fresh air and exercise. Rent single bikes from any of the shops along the beach, or opt for some extra fun with the family sized ones. If you’re adventurous, you can venture to the Marina Bay area via the connector, or stay within the East Coast Park area.

Building sandcastles
Bring the tools out and let your inner architect shine. A great bonding activity for the family, have a mini-sandcastle making contest, or simply aim to make the biggest one. Whatever it is, let your creativity run wild. Choose from simple tools to more fancy ones here.

Play beach football
Make sure you lather up in sunscreen first, before you enjoy a fun game of beach football. All you need is a ball and your friendly “World-Cup” can commence.

Grab a bite
Set in the centre of Marine Cove, family-friendly cafe by the beach East Coast Commune is the perfect spot for families to bring their little ones. And we’ve now launched a set meal for kids - offering more variety for the little ones for less.  Choosing from a new addition of Petit Oatmeal with chia seeds, or favourites Petit Brekkie and Petit Chicken Bowl and more, kids get a choice of main, a side/dessert with a beverage. And all served on a neat little tray. You can be assured they’ll always be occupied and entertained, with a corner in the cafe stocked with children’s books and toys, and a playground just a stone’s throw away.

Watch the sunset
Admiring the sunset and taking in the sea breeze sounds like a great way to end a fun-filled day with the kids. Take a pick at one of the many jetties along the coast.
